The Reserves flew the flag for the senior sides on Saturday after both home fixtures were postponed, whilst the under 12’s and 15’s managed to play on Sunday.
With the First and A Team fixtures at Tucker Park falling foul to the weather, Town Reserves made the long journey to Watlington Town Reserves, in the 1/4 Final of the AG Kingham Cup. Town had not managed to pick a win in any competition since October, however they managed to play some of their best football on an excellent playing surface to register a 4-0 victory and cement a semi final with East Hendred Reserves. Town missed a number of early chances, with the home side making last ditch blocks and the home keeper pulling off some decent saves. However, with the first half coming to a close, Matty Hickson turned and shot across the keeper and into the far side of the goal. At 1-0, Town knew they had to be on their guard, but with the wind at their back, they were favourites to progress. On the hour Phil Thompson made it 2-0, with his second strike on consecutive fixtures, sub James Tyler notched the third with his first touch and Colin Yates opened his account for the club with a 25 yard top corner effort.
Moving onto the youth sides, the under 8’s & 10’s played out their Development fixtures on Saturday morning, the 8’s entertaining Oxford City and the 10’s travelled to play Quarry Rovers Dynamite.
Town under 12’s made the journey along the A420 to Oxford, to take on Hinksey Park International and registered their first win of the Spring C League. Town were behind at the interval, but made big improvements in the second period, to score twice and register a 2-1 victory, to impress the coaching duo of Chris Benson & Matty Pill.
The under 15’s finally managed to get their Knockout Cup tie with A League side Cumnor Minors on at Tucker Park, on a very wet playing surface. C League Town did well to contain the visitors, but Minors finally ran our 7-2 winners to progress into the next round.
