The Reserves continued their recent good form, whilst the Youth section has a positive weekend of results.
The Reserves travelled to Sutton Courtenay FC in NBFL Division 2, knowing they needed to collect three points in their quest for survival and also to go into their semi finals, with positive results. Town had a couple of late withdrawals, however this did not hold them back as they totally dominated the home side to run out easy 7-2 victors. Town raced into a 5-1 half time lead through a Colin Yates double, Matty Hickson, Max Scholefield and Neil Docherty strikes. Yates then completed his hat-trick on the hour and despite Courtenay grabbing a second from a deflected free kick, substitute Rich Evans grabbed the seventh from the penalty spot after being brought down by the home keeper.
Moving onto the Youth section, the three Development sides all had positive results and performances in their respective fixtures with Hanney Youth U8’s , Stanford Youth Scorpions & Barton United.
The under 12’s continued their good run of form, with a home 2-1 win over Botley Boys with two well worked goals. The coaching team were pleased with the improved performance and skill levels.
The under 13’s welcomed Hinksey Park to Tucker Park, looking to continue their pursuit of the B League title and came away with a 5-4 victory, which kept them in third position and in touching distance of the league leaders.
The under 15’s are also in the hunt for silverware in the C League, following their 6-1 away victory over bottom side Marston Saints. they remain third, but with league leaders beating second placed Crowmarsh Youth, Town can draw level with Goring Robins if they win their games in hand and the two sides meet on the 20th March.
Finally the under 16’s welcome Croperdy FC to Tucker Park for a B League encounter, two weeks after the two sides met and draw one all. This time, the visitors only arrived with 10 players and despite a spirited performance from the away side, Town claimed all three points with a 6-1 home victory.
