With the First Team fixture postponed due to a waterlogged Tucker Park pitch, the youth section took centre stage, with varying results.
On Saturday morning, the under 8’s and 9’s managed to get their Development games underway at Tucker Park, however the pitch did look very sorry for itself at the final whistle.
The under 10’s were at Oxford City to face Florence Park and following a very disorganised morning from the league, the match finally took place at midday, with Town losing 2-1. The lads were very unlucky with a perfectly good goal, not awarded. Unlucky lads, but runners-up is a good achievement.
Moving onto Sunday and the under 12’s were in Knockout Trophy semi final action at Tucker Park, with Hinksey Park International the visitors. Unfortunately, Town fell short of reaching the final, losing 3-2.
The under 13’s are still in the hunt for promotion and perhaps the league title. They welcomed Combe Junior Sports to Tucker Park in the B League and gained a comfortable 3-0 victory. Town moved to second position, with two games in hand on leaders Abingdon Youth, but six points behind.
Another title challenger are Town under 15’s in the C League. Town faced Quarry Rovers at Tucker Park and this was a very tight affair, with Town winning 3-2. The victory see’s Town move to second position, two points behind new leaders Crowmarsh Youth. but with three games in hand.
The under 16’s travelled to Highfield Colts in the B League, with both sides chasing promotion with Town 2nd and Colts 3rd prior to kick off. Town unfortunately lost 2-1, which saw both sides swap position, however Town can seek immediate revenge, with the sides meeting on Wednesday at Tucker Park.
Town under 17’s played their first fixture for over a month as they faced local side Clanfield (85) FC in the B Premier Division. Town held their own against a strong side, before falling to two well taken goals and a 2-0 defeat.
