The senior sides all suffered defeat on Saturday, whilst the younger element played away from Tucker Park, but failed to compete at Tucker Park, due to unplayable surfaces.
Town welcomed title challengers Kintbury Rangers to Tucker Park, hoping to spring a surprise, with themselves languishing in the bottom two. Town did take a 2-1 lead in the first half, only for Rangers to equalise on the stroke of half time. Town more than matched the visitors, but finally succumbed to two late sucker punches to lose 4-2. Town scored through Ryan Bradbury & Chris Benson.
The Reserves travelled to Marcham FC in NBFL Division 2, with both sides sitting in the bottom two places. The fact that Town had not played for five weeks was very clear, with the home side much sharper and dominant having been active since Xmas. Town managed to get to half time 0-0, but conceded early in the second half, before skipper Paul Smith equalised with a far post header. The home scored the winner on 75 minutes and despite late Town pressure, including James Tyler’s header hitting the bar with the final touch of the match, the home side took the three points.
The A Team went to previously winless Hagbourne United in NBFL Division 4, looking to claim three points and move away from the relegation places. Unfortunately, the home side had other ideas and came of the blocks quicker and took Town by surprise, racing into a clear lead and despite Town grabbing two goals through Jason Evans, the home side were triumphant 5-2.
The under 12’s played their second Spring C League fixture, with an away game at Oxford Blackbirds. The home side took full control and were victorious 6-1.
The under 13’s had a top of the table clash, away to Abingdon Youth in the B League, hoping to gain ground on the leaders. Unfortunately, Youth took all three points with a 5-2 victory, however Town are still in contention with two games in hand.
The under 17’s made the long journey to Moreton Rangers, knowing the management team and parents wanted the three points to take back home with them. The players didn’t disappoint and totally dominated to win 5-0.
