Weekend Preview – Faringdon Town Football Club – 27th January 2018

After last weekends wash-out, our three seniors teams are back in action. The 1st Team travel to Tytherington Rocks for a Bluefin Supplementary Cup tie. Reserves in league action at Tucker Park against Sutton Courtenay, with the A-Team also at home versus Steventon Reserves.

Faringdon Town meet Tytherington Rocks for the first-time. Rocks from Div 1 West have struggled this season and are yet to register a league or cup win this season in 18 attempts. With a goals against tally of 108 and just 13 for. However they will see this as a great opportunity to grab a 1st victorty of the season. Daryll Curtis’ men have been finding their early season form again recently. The Don always dig deep against higher league opposition in these cup ties and have put in some quality performances this season. Having already beaten Didcot Reserves from Div 1 East earlier in the season.

VDM makes a welcome return to the squad (full list here). Jordan Walker has scored 3 of the 13 goals Rocks have netted this season. With the Don not having found the back of the net for a couple of games, this looks like it could be another close battle.

Address for those wishing to make the trip: Hardwicke Playing Field, Tytherington GL12 8UJ – 3pm KO

Faringdon Town Reserves take on Sutton Courtenay in a Div 2 league fixture. Sutton started the season strongly but have fallen away in the battle for top spot. The teams have met a couple of times already this season with the Don winning by a last minute goal each time. Rhys Griffiths is the one to watch in front of goal with 12 in 12 games. Mark Loveridge is top marksman for the Ressers with 6 in 11. Results and performances have been on the up for the Ressers over recent games, so this fixture is certainly looks a winnable game. 2pm KO

Faringdon Town A-Team host bottom placed Steventon Reserves in a NBFL Div 4 clash. Steventon have managed just 3 league points this season and have a goal difference of -60. Dan Pugh’s boys will be looking to add to this as they’ve managed at least 1 goal in every fixture this season. It would be a great time to get their 1st clean sheet however! The A’s sit just below mid-table, but have games in hand over everyone else. 2pm KO

Squad list for all 3 teams can be found here.
