Weekend Preview – Faringdon Town FC – 10th February 2018

Weather permitting all 3 senior sides are in action this weekend. The 1st team travel to play Brimscombe & Thrupp Res, while the Reserves are at home to Kintbury Rangers Res, with the As also at Tucker Park versus Ardington & Lockinge Res.

Faringdon Town travel to Stroud to take on 8th placed Brimscombe & Thrupp Res, who’ve not played for a couple of weeks due to the recent weather conditions. Last time out they beat Cheltenham Saracens 6-0. Top-scorer James Piatex (12) bagged a hat-trick from the bench, with Lewis Bainbridge grabbing 2 and Harrison Reeves getting the other. Brimscombes record of 6 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses have seen them steady in mid-table 5 points of the Don, with a game in-hand. The previous meeting at Tucker Park earlier in the season saw the teams battle out a 1-1 draw. The goals that day came from VDM and James Piatex.

With Brimscombe now having home advantage the game looks like another tough encounter for the Town. Faringdon are 4th in the league 10 points adrift of leaders Newent Town. With 8 league games remaining the Don are still looking good for a top-four finish this season.

Faringdon Town Reserves host Kintbury Rangers Res for at 2.30pm KO. Andy Tranters men gained a valuable 3 points last week with a victory over Benson Lions, Andrew Munns got 2, with Ryan Bradbury and Mark Loveridge getting the others. Kintbury beat Standford in the Vale 4-0 in the Charity Sheild. Kintbury have only played 9 league games this season winning 5, losing 3 with 1 draw. Luke Connor is the top marksman with 11 from 8 games. Mark Loveridge now has 7 from 13 for the Ressers.

Faringdon Town A-Team are also at Tucker Park for a 2.30KO with league leaders Ardington & Lockinge Res the visitors. In the reverse fixture the As won 2-1 in what was a very tight game. With goals from Dom Wills and Oli Pickett, Jamie Wilkins with the Ardington goal. The As won 6-2 against Steventon Res last week with Jason Evans getting a hat-trick to take his seasons tally to 11 from 10 games. Jack Green, Oli Pickett and Shane New with the others. Ardington drew 3-3 with Hanney, with top-scorer Jamie Wilkins grabbing another to take his season total to 11 from 13 games.
