Weekend Preview 01/09/16

Saturday 1st October –

Faringdon Town start a run of 5 home games this weekend, with the visit of Brimscombe & Thrupp Res.  After 7 games Brimscombe have won 3, lost 3 & drawn 1 scoring 24 and conceding 16. They currently sit third in the league 3 points behind current leaders Highworth Town Res. Faringdon Town sit mid-table with 6 points from their 5 games. The Don lost out to a late goal, last week finally losing 3-2 to Easington Sports Res. The goals coming from Rob Owen & Jordan Wilkins. Town will be looking for a more energized performance this week, knowing that 3 points will put them within a point of the visitors having played 2 fewer games. With the squad taking shape and availability looking better this season, their 1st season back in the Hellenic League has been a positive step forward for the club.

The Reserves travel to Kintbury Reserves looking to get their 1st win of the season, Kintbury have just 1 point from their opening 3 games, so a win for the Don will see the Res leap-frog Kintbury in the table. A tough set of opening fixtures have seen the Ressers fall to 3 defeats, but last weeks performance against the current league leaders, showed they are moving in the right direction and a positive result this weekend is definitely on the cards.

The A-Team are on their travels also, playing Didcot Eagles in the Div 5. Fresh from their 4-3 victory over local rivals Coleshill Res, with keep Lee Murby saving 2 of 3 penalties to help gain the A’s first points of the season. Didcot have 1 win and a loss from their opening two games.
