Its a full weekend of fixtures for the senior sides, flying the clubs flag. The Youth section are on their Easter break, with no fixtures planned.
Town 1st Team face the difficult task of taking on reigning champions and current league title chasers Berinsfield FC at their Laye Avenue Ground. Kick off is 2.30pm and with Town massive underdogs, the side has nothing to lose in their fight against finishing at the foot of the Division. Berinsfield will be in high spirits after their 4-1 victory last weekend over fellow title contenders Saxton Rovers. The two sides have met twice this season, with Town going through in the Charity Shield and the hosts victorious in the reverse NBFL Division 1 fixture 3-5 at Tucker Park, Town scoring through Rich Evans, Robbie Harrington & Adam Sly. Town are missing a number of players for the tie, Adrian Sanchez, Jordan Wilkins & Liam Humphreys are unavailable, but Rich Evans & George Hegg return.
Town Reserves are at Tucker Park in NBFL Division 2 action, welcoming Westminster FC for a 2.30pm kick off. Westminster had an awful start to their campaign, gaining only one draw from their opening six league fixtures. However, they now find themselves challenging for a promotion spot in third position. Town on the other hand have had two weeks to get over their two semi final defeats and will hope to gain as many points from their remaining four league fixtures to try to stave off relegation. The reverse fixture actually saw the start of Westminster’s revival, as the two sides played out a competitive fixture in awful conditions, Town losing 4-3 with Phil Thompson, Paul Smith & Max Scholefield finding the net. Skipper Smith is away this weekend, missing his first game of the season, however Colin Yates & Phil Thompson both returning after missing the last outing.
The A Team are on the final stretch of their season, which will end next weekend. This Saturday they are on the road to East Hendred Reserves in NBFL Division 4, conquerors of Town Reserves two weeks ago in the AG Kingham Cup semi final. Kick off at Mill Lane is 2.30pm and the A’s will follow the 1st Team’s attitude of having nothing to lose against a very strong and experienced opposition. The two sides met early in the season at Tucker Park in September with Hendred winning 3-0. Hendred are strong favourites to lift the league trophy, sitting in second position, one point off of top spot and with three games in hand, so it appears it’s theirs to lose. Town will go into the match hoping to spring a massive surprise and make the home side work hard for the league title.
