Games are coming thick and fast this month for The Don, with a quick turnaround following Tuesday night’s 5-0 league victory over Kintbury Rangers Development, as the squad travels to the Bassett Road to face familiar foes Letcombe FC, in the 2nd Round of the Faringdon Thursday Memorial Cup Competition, kick-off 6.30 pm.
The two sides faced each other twice in the Uhlsport Hellenic League last season but also clashed in the same round of this competition in August 2022. On that occasion, Town raced into a 2-0 lead, before hitting the woodwork to make it three. Letcombe managed to find a goal just before the half-time break, followed by another two goals in the second half to win 3-2 and eventually lifting the cup in May this year. Both league ties were similarly tight affairs, but Letcombe always appeared to have the upper hand. Letcombe were prolific in front of goal last season with Jordi Davies & Josh Fowler finding the net over 40 times each and both are expected to be involved this evening.
The Don starting line-up might see a number of changes from Tuesday night, with Saturday’s league game with Wroughton Development on the horizon.
