This Saturday saw the seniors fail to find the net in their three fixtures, whilst the youth sides had a mixbag of results.
Town 1st Team were looking to bounce back from their recent heavy defeats and managed to hold visitors Abingdon Town for 70 minutes, before a late double sealed a 2-0 victory for the away side in NBFL Division 1.
The Reserves made the journey over the downs towards Newbury to face NBFL Division 3 strugglers Compton FC in the 3rd Round of the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup. Town didn’t come to terms with the conditions and came away with a 1-0 defeat.
The A Team gave a good account of themselves against Long Wittenham Reserves in NBFL Division 5, before losing 2-0, the second of which was a very late break away goal, as Town searched an equaliser.
The three development sides all had Trophy events on Saturday morning, with them all playing some much improved football and picking up some victories.
The under 12’s found themselves 5-0 up after 20 minutes in their match at Marston Saints, before letting the home side grab three goals themselves in a 5-3 victory.
Town under 13’s travelled to Oxford to play Hinksey Park and moved level on points with leaders Abingdon Youth with a 4-2 victory.
The under 15’s put themselves in the hunt for the C League title, with an impressive 5-3 home victory over Goring Robins at Tucker Park. The win puts Town three points behind Robins with two games in hand.
The under 16’s were without a fixture.
The under 17’s came away from Hook Norton with a 2-0 defeat, which see’s the side slip into the mid-table bundle.
