Now the season is up and running after two victories last week, The Don face three games this week, starting with a Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League Division One tie as we welcome Kintbury Rangers Development on Tuesday night at Tucker Park, kick-off 6.15pm.
It will be the first game played with our impressive pitch side barriers in place. This is then closely followed by the Second Round of the Faringdon Thursday Memorial Cup, with a trip to former Hellenic League Division Two foes, Letcombe FC on Thursday, again a 6.30 pm kick-off.
Then on Saturday, we will be at home as Wroughton Development travel to Tucker Park for a 3.00 pm league fixture (a preview for Thursday and Saturday’s fixtures will be posted towards the end of the week).
Kintbury Rangers Development are an old adversary to The Don, from our North Berks and Hellenic days and any tie with the club is a tough game with high intensity. Town picked up a 2-0 away victory at the weekend, to follow up the 3-1 victory in midweek over Highworth Town Reserves. Kyle Bowyer has certainly opened his season on fire, scoring four in those two fixtures, with last season’s Player of the Year, Liam Hares also opening up his account, with the opener at Devizes Town Development.
Rangers were without a competitive game at the weekend following the cancellation of their opening fixture by Wroughton Development, who could not raise a side. The visitors had their own issues last season, withdrawing from the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League Division One part way through the season, however, aspirations are higher this season, following the arrival of Danny Langford as First Team manager, signing a number of players from Newbury FC and Hungerford Town Swifts, which will only appear to benefit the Development manager Tom Head squad depth and quality.
