Following the shock announcement that both Drayton FC sides have dropped out of the NBFL, only the Reserves are in action this Saturday. The Youths have an almost full fixture list.
The 1st & A Team’s were both due to face Drayton FC sides this weekend, so following the league announcement, they both are matchless this weekend and Drayton’s records will be expunged.
The Reserves will travel towards the shadows of the old Didcot Power Station, as they face Sutton Courtenay in NBFL Division 2, hoping to continue their current form with semi finals due over coming weekends. The two sides met in October at Tucker Park and in a close encounter, Town gained the three points following a lone Max Scholefield strike. Town have obviously struggled until the last month, whilst Courtenay have sat in mid-table with six wins, one draw and eight defeats and come into this fixture on the back of a 5-0 defeat by Turnpike Sports. Town are on a run of 3 wins and a draw in the last four and so are high in confidence, with only James Tyler and keeper Ian Oglesby missing from last weekend. Town will welcome Pete Doolan back between the sticks, whilst Chris Kershaw and Jacko Puzey are back available.
Moving onto the Youth section, all three Development sides are in action on Saturday morning. The under 8’s make the short journey to Hanney after a very long period without a fixture and will hope to dust off some cobwebs! The under 9’s have a local derby with Stanford at Tucker Park, hoping to come away with local bragging rights. Whilst the under 10’s are once again on the road to Oxford, as they travel to Barton in their latest fixture. All three sides are due to kick off at 10.30am.
The under 12’s are at home on Sunday morning, kick off 10.30am with Botley the visitors in the Spring C League. The two sides sit in 5th (Town) and 6th positions, however the visitors have only played once so far. The sides met in the Autumn competition, with Town winning 4-0.
The under 13’s have a midday kick off on Sunday at Tucker Park, when Hinksey Park are the visitors. Third placed Town now they have to keep picking up three points if they are to keep up the pressure on the league leaders, who they have games in hand on. Town won the reverse fixture in November, 4-2.
Town under 15’s will be hoping to collect another three points, when they travel to basement side Marston Saints in the C League, kick off 10.30am. Saints are without a win so far in the league, however Town know it will be no easy feat to gain the three points, having played out a 4-2 victory at Tucker Park earlier in the season.
The under 16’s are in Invitation B League action on Sunday afternoon, when they face a quick reverse fixture at Tucker Park, kick off 2.00pm. Cropredy FC are the visitors from the Banbury area and a close game is expected as the sides drew 1-1 two weeks ago and sit sixth & seventh in the division.
The under 17’s are without a fixture.
