A £5500 injection for Faringdon Town F.C. will boost grassroots football
A £4000 grant has been to Faringdon Town F.C. for the maintenance of the pitches at Tucker Park. Thanks to the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund, which provides grants towards developing new or refurbished grassroots football facilities and Faringdon Town Council.
The grant has enabled Faringdon Town to purchase a Sisis Quadraplay. This machine will vastly improve and maintain the surface of Tucker Park. Allowing better drainage, it will improve the condition of the surface, encouraging better grass growth whilst also improving the appearance of the Park.
The club worked in partnership with the Berks & Bucks F.A. and Faringdon Town Council to secure the £4000 grant.
We are very grateful to the Premier League & the FA Facilities Fund for their £2000 grant and Faringdon Town Council for their donation of £2000 towards our project. Faringdon Town F.C. have contributed the remaining £1500, which will enable us to purchase a piece of equipment that will prove vital in improving the playing surface. This will help improving player’s skills and creating better quality matches, making for a more enjoyable experience for all those playing at Tucker Park.
Simon Harrington, Faringdon Town F.C. Chairman
The Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund is funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government, via Sport England. It is delivered by the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity. Since it was launched in 2000, the Foundation has awarded around 15,000 grants worth more than £580m towards improving grassroots sport, which it has used to attract additional partnership funding of over £800m – over £1.3bn of investment into the grassroots game.
By providing more high-quality facilities, coupled with coaching at the appropriate age group, the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund aims to improve the experience for regular players as well as attracting new players to the game.
Many of the new state-of-the-art facilities will serve to strengthen the connection between professional football clubs and their local communities, particularly in the most deprived areas of the country, through the professional clubs’ community trusts’ outreach work.
