Match Report – Faringdon Town v Hungerford Town Swifts

Following the end of pre-season, our first game of the season arrived and saw us host Hungerford Town Swifts.

FTFC started the game on the front foot and pressed Hungerford high putting them under pressure causing them to mistakes. The first 20 minutes saw us dominate and create chances to open the scoring.

Hungerford came back into the half but a solid defence forced them to play the ball long which was dealt with comfortably.

Half-time arrived and FTFC will feel they were unlucky to not be in front after a solid first-half performance.

The second half was much the same although a spirited Hungerford came at us early and put us under pressure without really creating anything.

FTFC took the lead following a corner taken by Ryan Bradbury that was headed home by Josh Forth.

FTFC had worked hard all game and legs began to feel heavy, Hungerford continued to push for the equaliser but the defensive line and shape were strong and didn’t let them have any clear chances.

As the game neared the end Hungerford produced their best moment of the game which resulted in a shot from the edge of the box hitting the back of the net.

While this was a disappointing end to a great performance from the lads we take the positives of a solid start to the season and go to Highworth next week with confidence.

The Advertiser MOTM

It was a great performance from everyone, however, two there were two stand-out performances from Liam Hares who dominated in the air and Josh Forth who won the midfield battle. Josh just edged the decision due to him getting the opening goal of the season.
