FTFC secure third in the final league table following a hard fought victory over Barton United.
Barton started the game the much brighter team and would have been disappointed not to find the back of the net during this period however FTFC slowly worked themselves into the game and eventually took the lead. Leon found Jack (Traynor) with some neat play down the right and Jack’s cross into the penalty box found Patrick who made no mistake with the finish.
Barton quickly gave FTFC a reminder that they were still in the game but the shot wasn’t good enough to beat Frankie at his near post. FTFC doubled their lead when Jack grabbed his first of the afternoon. Charlie picked up a long clearance and his chipped pass bypassed the Barton keeper into Jack’s path to finish. Jack quickly grabbed his second when he rounded the keeper to tap home.
Barton kept the game interesting and pulled a goal back with a good header from a corner but before half-time FTFC stretched the lead back to three when Joe (Johnson) finished after a good run and cross from Charlie.
Half-time and a familiar score line to the away game at Barton! Last time Barton stormed back to take the victory but not today.
The second half was evenly contended with goal scoring chances at both ends but only one more goal was scored and that came from top goal scorer Jack. A headed knock on from Sam fell to the feet of Jack who made no mistake to score his 22nd goal of the season and also notch his 5th hat-trick of the season.
Excellent season for the boys who finished third behind Clanfield (85) and Summertown United. Already looking forward to U18 football in the 2016-2017 season!
