So after last seasons terrific Uhlsport Hellenic Veterans Division One title win in the clubs first ever competitive Veterans team, the squad embark tonight on a Premier Division campaign following promotion.
A change of home venue for the season has been made with tonight’s match and all other home fixtures being hosted by Fairford Town at their Cinder Lane Stadium. The fixture computer couldn’t have thrown up a more difficult opponent for The Don as they host current league champions Old Hooky Vets.
Town will need to be up for the game from the opening whistle, however, the squad proved it could match Premier sides last season, beating three clubs during their cup run last season, eventually losing to league runners-up Oxford City in a tight semi-final 1-0.
The majority of last seasons squad has resigned with the addition of former Wantage Town legends Chris Roche & Chris Pettis, along with Cricklade Town stalwart Terry Dearing who we welcome to The Don. Town Gaffer Martin Harries has had to make some difficult decision when selecting tonight’s squad, however, rotation will be used in the opening fixtures.
