The three senior sides are all in NBFL league action, whilst the youth sides are all in development, league and cup fixtures.
The First Team will be looking to build on last weekends three points, when they welcome Lambourn Sports to Tucker Park in NBFL Division 1. The hosts won promotion last season, after winning NBFL Division 2 and the step up has not been an issue for the side, which despite losing the opening league match to champions Berinsfield FC, they have won the following six league matches, to sit in fourth with games in hand. Their squad has been bolstered by the return of a number of their Hellenic League days and the demise of Ardington FC. Their main strike threat is Ben Matthews, who has collected 14 goals from 10 league and cup fixtures. Town on the other hand will be looking for their squad to finally start to take shape, with the return of Mark Simpkins after 8 weeks out injured, plus Liam Humphries available again. Kick off at Tucker Park is 2.00pm.
The Reserves will hope to put an end to their run of three games without a goal, when they travel to Steventon FC in NBFL Division 2. Town sit in 9th position, whilst the hosts are six points and four positions higher and have picked up four wins and a draw from their nine league fixtures. The two sides met in the division last season, with Steventon winning 2-1 at the Village Green and the sides drawing 2-2 at Tucker Park. Town know that they will have to improve their defensive performance to be competitive in the division. The squad is bolstered by the signings of James Tyler and Neil Docherty, whilst Alfie West, Jacko Puzey and Kane Harding come into the squad from the first team. Kick off is 2.00pm.
The A Team are again at Tucker Park, this time it’s Blewbury FC the visitors to Tucker Park in NBFL Division 4, kick off 2.00pm. The visitors were relegated from Division 3 and are currently sitting in mid-table with four wins and three defeats in their seven fixtures so far. Occupying sixth position, the visitors have scored sixteen goals from their last two league fixtures, so will be in high spirits and confidence going into the match. Town will also be confident, after running the league leaders close last weekend, where rash challenges were penalised by the visitors. The squad is bolstered with the return of Barry Duncan, Joe Weatherall and Dan Jacob from the Reserves side last weekend.
The three development sides are all in action on Saturday morning, looking to build on last Saturday’s encouraging results and performances. The under 8’s travel to Summertown Kestrels, the under 9’s welcome Oxford City White’s to Tucker Park and the under 10’s travel along the A420 to Cumnor Minors, all kicking off at 10.30am.
On to Sunday and the under 12’s are in Autumn C League action, with Oxford Blackbirds to opponents at Tucker Park, 10.30am kick off. The sides sit in 7th (Town) and 6th positions, and with Town on a 3 match winning streak, a win is certainly possible against a touch and determined opponent. A win could see Town leap to 4th position.
The under 13’s make the short journey to Grove Challengers in the Under 13 KnockOut Cup 2nd Round, kick off 10.30am. Challengers currently sit in 6th position in the A League, whilst Town are joint top of the B League, so this looks to be an even contest.
The under 15’s are in Knockout Cup action on Sunday morning, with A League side Cumnor Minors the visitors to Tucker Park, 10.30am kick off. The sides did meet in the Berks & Bucks County Cup, earlier this season with Minors winning convincingly, however Town are on a good run of form currently.
The under 16’s are in league action on Sunday afternoon, with Oxford City the visitors to Tucker Park, kick off 2.00pm. The two sides currently have 7 points from four fixtures, with games in hand on the sides above them, so a victory will give either side an opportunity to challenge after the Christmas break.
The under 17’s will want to build on last weekend’s victory, when they travel to Gloucestershire to play Moreton Rangers in the OIYL B League. Town sit in 6th after six fixtures and 10 points, whilst the home side are 4th with 12 points from eight fixtures.
