Faringdon Town Weekend Preview – 21/1/17
The First team are finally back in action this weekend. They travel to Moreton Rangers to play in the Bluefin Sport Hellenic Supplementary Cup. Moreton currently sit top of Hellenic Div 2 West and have played 3 times since The Don’s last outing on the 17th December. Those 3 games bringing 3 wins and 13 goals their way. Last weeks result was a 7-0 win over Easington Sport Res. The 2 teams have already meet home and way in the league this season, with Moreton winning 3-1 on both occasions. Although the First team have not had matched in recent weeks, training sessions have been well attended and very competitive. The management team will be hoping the boys are eager to get 2017 of to a decent start. (Away 1.30pm KO)
The Reserves are in action at Tucker Park with Dorchester the visitors. The two teams currently hold up the league at the moment, with Dorchester gaining 3 more points so far this season. You could call this a classic 6 pointer, although 3 points for the Don wouldn’t change the current league standings it would do a great deal for confidence. Last week the Ressers pushed Sutton Courtenay close, before succumbing to a 3-2 defeat. Two goals from Jamie Broadfield, not quite enough to take the points. Performances if not results have been improving lately, manager Matt Willis will be doing all he can to push to boys to victory. (Home 2.00pm KO)
