Development of our clubhouse

The new changing room block has now been started with a vengeance and phase one is now complete. The containers were moved and the old garage demolished. Ground work to DPC was completed over a 9-day period. We hope to be starting phase two shortly which would see block work and roof completed.

Sponsors for 2017-18

We are delighted to announce that Wiltshire Grab Hire have become the clubs main sponsor. A new first team kit will be provided along with warm up tops and polo shirts for all four senior teams. G & L Evans Family Funeral Services will continue their long association with F.T.F.C. after renewing our ball sponsorship. We are hoping to tie up further sponsorship over the next couple of weeks. Our sponsors will enjoy advertising on our very popular website with facebook and twitter followers along with pitch side banners and digital inhouse screening. If anyone would like to advertise with us on any level please get in touch.

I would like to thank Ben Avenall of Wiltshire Grab Hire and Geoff Evans of G & L Evans Family Funeral Services for their support.

Football Update

F.T.F.C. will be running 12 teams this season. We have unfortunatley lost our under 16’s and 17’s from last season. Most of the under 17’s have made the step-up to our senior sides. With players going away for further education there was not enough players from last seasons under 16’s to continue at under 17’s for this season. The club would like to thank Carl Allum and Iain Lawson respectfully for their hard work over past seasons you can now have your Sundays back (but don’t go too far away we have plenty of other jobs for you to do).

Owen Sucksmith will be starting a new under 8’s this coming season. I would like to welcome Owen to the club and hope he enjoys the coming season. We have also added a veteran’s side to our ranks. Paul Hulme and Martin Harries will be running this team who will be playing in the Hellenic League with home games being played at Clanfield on Wednesday evenings.

Senior training is well under way and has been very well attended with 40 plus players enjoying both Tuesday and Thursday sessions. Thanks go to Matt, Paul, Andy, Darryl, Dan, for getting the lads into shape. Friendlies have already been played the first team losing 5-0 to Wallingford and a narrow 2-1 defeat to Cricklade. A new look Reserves entertained Bampton on Tuesday and ran out 7-2 winners.

Entertainment

Tucker Park has already hosted a very successful Faringdon Fun Run and Live at the Park over the past few months. Further events to follow this summer include the circus which has just pitched up and will be open this weekend. On the 2nd of August the Police take on our local youth in their annual community football match – 2pm kick off. Adam Bradley Coaching will be holding his summer coaching from 31st July until the 2nd August and again from the 21st August until 23rd August. Also on the 21st August Faringdon Town Council Youth Department have organised ‘Bubble Football’ from 2pm until 3pm for our local youth. The summer activities are brought to a close by the Open-air Cinema showing ‘Mama Mia’ at dusk on Friday 25th August also organised by the Town Council.

As you can see these are busy times, I would like to thank all the current committee members and volunteers for their hard work. F.T.F.C. is a growing club and run solely by volunteers, if you would like to offer your services to help in anyway please contact me on simon160659@gmail.com

Here’s to a successful season on and of the field.
