This weekend sees all three senior teams in action again. First team away to Saxton Rovers in the B&B Senior Trophy, Reserves away to Crowmarsh Gifford with the A-Team at home to Watlington Town Res.
Faringdon Town renew old rivalries when they play Saxton Rovers in the B&B Senior Trophy. Saxton are yet to taste defeat so far this season. Their last 2 games have been cup ties, one being a 10-0 victory over FTFC Res. Saccy has found the net 31 times in just 4 games, without conceding. Stanley Thomas has fired in 11 in his 4 starts.
The two teams faced each other earlier in the season in the Faringdon Thursday Memorial Cup, with Saxton winning a feisty encounter 6-0. The squad has improved since then and have put in promising performances against higher league opposition. Last weeks experience against Hellenic Premier side Lydney should prove a good platform for the team.
Saccy are sure to provide another stern test for Daryll’s boys, with the scoreline and performance being a good indicator on how the team are progressing.
Faringdon Town Reserves are on the road at Crowmarsh Gifford in only their 2nd league game of the season. The Ressers put in a battling performance against Sutton Courtenay last week, finally winning 4-3 thanks to a last-minute winner. Crowmarsh have played 4 in the league, drawing 1 and losing 3. Conceding 18 and scoring just 5. The Ressers will see this as a very winnable game to get their league campaign firing.
Faringdon A-Team are at Tucker Park again this week with Watlington Town Res the visitors. The A-Team won a close game 4-3 last week over Hanney 66. Jason Evans fired in a hat-trick last week, with Jack Green scoring the what turned out to be the winner. Watlington have play 5 in the league so far, winning 3, losing 2. They currently sit 2nd on 9 points in the league. Fraser Wilson has 4 goals from 4 starts for Watlington.
