Faringdon Town FC – Weekend Preview –
All three FTFC senior teams are in action this Saturday.
Faringdon Town are back in Hellenic League action this weekend. A trip to play Fairford Town Res in Div Two West. The two meet earlier in the season, with Fairford winning 4-1. Fairford’s season got of to a flyer winning their opening 3 games, but they’ve only played 7 league games to this point adding a further 2 wins to their tally. (played 7, won 5, lost 2). Last time out they beat Shrivenham Res 4-0. The Firsts had last weekend off, and hopefully come into this game feeling refreshed and ready to perform. They currently have 10 points from their 10 games and sit 9th in the league. Fairford’s goals have been pretty well spread, but Shane Hibbert has 4 goals from his 2 starts. 3.00pm Kick-off (away)
Faringdon Town Reserves have a true six pointer at Tucker Park on Saturday. With the visit of bottom team Sutton Courtenay First the opponents, two points seperate the teams. A defeat would see the Ressers drop to the bottom of the league. In the Reserves last match goals from Dave Owens and Harry Platt were not enough to get the win over Kinbury Rangers Res, eventually losing 2-3. Sutton’s single point has come through a 2-2 draw with Hanney First at the beginning of the month. Their 2 latest games have been cups matches, seeing them pick up 1 win and a 1 lose. Rhys Griffiths has bagged 6 goals from 8 games for the visitors. 2.00pm Kick-off (home)
The A-Team host current league leaders Grove Rangers Res. The A’s picked up another 3 points last week with battling performance against Steventon Reserves. Steventon had much of the ball, but couldn’t find away past Paul Hulme in the Don’s goal. Goals form Jason Evans and Chris Wills saw the points go Faringdon’s way. Grove are going well this season and are as yet to taste defeat in any competion. Winning all 11 games so far, scoring 37 and conceding 11, top scorer is Arran Colley with 9 goals from 8 starts. 2.00pm Kick-off (home)
