The U16’s are through to the next round of the Oxford Mail Cup with a comfortable 9-0 away at Wantage Town. Heavy rain overnight meant the game was moved from Wantage Town’s main pitch and the slippery surface took some getting used to. Faringdon were dominant in possession but could not hit the target and it took until 19mins when Samuel Adcock headed home a Luke McIntyre corner for Faringdon to take the lead. The game still meandered with little good football. However Josh Dawson and Tommy Tew who had come on as subs changed all that with 3 goals in 7mins, 2 great strikes from Josh and a typical lost cause chase for Tommy which he scrambled home. The second half was much improved as Faringdon finally got their football passing going and further goals from Dom Allum, Walter (2 – his first of the season), Tommy again and Max Griffiths completed a 9-0 win. Max’s goal the highlight following a lovely pass from Samuel and a great cut-back from Josh.
