Its the First Team flying the seniors flag this weekend, whilst the under 10’s and 12’s have important cup fixtures to look forward to.
The First Team will be looking to finish the season on a high, following the disappointment of only two league victories this season. One of those wins was over this weekend’s visitors to Tucker Park, Dorchester FC who currently sit at the foot of the table, five points adrift of Town, however playing two game more. The visitors collected their first point of the season last Saturday, drawing with Crowmarsh Gifford. It’s testament to the Dorchester squad that they have kept going through the season, without a point, with just two games remaining! Town won the reverse fixture 3-1, with strikers Dan Oyston (2) and Rich Evans finding the back of the net. Town will be missing defenders Josh Forth (Work) & Chris Benson (Wedding) for this match. Town know they will need to not lose, to guarantee they do not finish at the foot of the table.
Moving onto the youth section……Saturday
The under 8’s welcome Hanney Youth to Tucker Park for a 9.30am kick off, this is a development match for both sides, as they look to hone their playing skills.
The under 9’s follow the 8’s at Tucker Park, with a 11.30am kick off in Spring F League. The side has improved immensely over the season and it’s hoped they can continue their progress this weekend.
Next up are the under 10’s, who are in Cup Final action at Oxford City on the main pitch. James Gough and his talented squad travel for a 11.15am kick off the face Florence Park in the Knockout Trophy Final. The club wishes James and the boys the best of luck and look forward to them bringing the trophy home……
Now Sunday’s fixtures…..
The under 12’s are also in Knockout Trophy action, with a semi final at Tucker Park against Hinksey Park International. The two sides have met in Spring C League, Town winning 2-1 away from home, so this looks to be a tight affair, however Town sit third and Inter sixth. Good luck to Wes, Matty and the lads and we hope to see another side reach a cup final. Kick off is at 10.30am
Town under 13’s have hopes of still winning the B League, if this isn’t possible, then promotion should be and they will hope to put pressure on league leaders Abingdon Youth, who they trail by six points, but do have two games in hand. This Sunday they welcome Combe Junior Sports to Tucker Park for a 12.30pm kick off. When the two sides met in September, Town won 4-1 on the road.
Also at Tucker Park on Sunday are the under 15’s, who themselves are in with a chance of winning the C League. They will host Quarry Rovers at 10.30am with Town sitting in third and Rovers sixth, Town winning the reverse fixture 4-1. A Town win will see them draw level on points with current leaders Goring Robins, with a game in hand.
Onto Sunday afternoon and the under 16’s will be looking to continue their run of form, which has seen them leap into second position and hope that a promotion is certainly a reality. This weekend they visit third placed Highfield Colts, kick off 2.00pm and they will want to put clear air between the two sides with a victory. The two sides face a quick turnaround of fixtures, as the two sides also meet at Tucker Park on Wednesday!
And finally….The under 17’s commence their season after the league has been split into two, with a Premier and Championship mini league’s with top and bottom six clubs. Town face a local derby to begin with, travelling to Clanfield (85) FC for a 2.00pm kick off. The two sides played out a 2-2 draw at Tucker Park in October.
