This Saturday see’s the three senior sides in action, plus the development lad in the morning. Sunday see’s two home fixtures for the youth section.
Town 1st Team face the difficult task of entertaining Berinsfield FC to Tucker Park, for a NBFL Division 1, 2.00pm kick off. The two sides met last month in the Charity Shield, Town losing 9-1 and this task will be no easier, with Berinsfield riding high at the top of the table an Town languishing in the bottom two. Last weekend’s performance was much improved, but again being hit by player unavailability the management team are making the full use of the clubs resources. In ten league and cup fixtures, the visitors have yet to taste defeat, with nine victories, scoring 38 and conceding only 11. Hot-shot David Murphy is expected to lead the line with his partner Max Palmer, who have grabbed 20 goals between them, so far this campaign.
The Reserves face an equally difficult task, however on the road to local side Stanford ITV who currently lead NBFL Division 2. Kick off is 2.00 pm and Town will be hoping to spring, what some will see as the biggest surprise of the season so far in the division, if they manage to gain any points from the fixture. Town sit 3rd bottom, with the hosts top with just an opening day defeat on the opening day of the season, blotting their copybook so far. Town rain Stanford close in the opening weeks of the season at home, when they went into the half time break, 2-1 to the good, however a couple of well taken goals and Hellenic League experience told as the Stanford claimed a 3-2 victory. Town’s squad will be very different, however the effort and determination will not be any different.
Town A are also on the road, this time to Kennington Athletic in NBFL Division 4, kick off 2.00pm. Athletic have proven in the last couple of seasons that they are capable of taking a promotion place, however always seem to come up a little short. This means, they will be difficult for the young A-Team squad to overcome. The home side have 4 victories and two defeats in their opening 6 fixtures and currently sit in 5th position. Town are 3rd bottom with 6 points and come into the match on the back of two defeats, whilst the hosts have lost their last three league and cup fixtures. The two sides met twice last season, with two 1-1 draws in the history books, so definitely something for the young A Team to play for.
Both the under 8’s & 10’s are in Trophy Event action at the Oxford Academy. The under 8’s at 10.00am and the 10’s at 12.30pm. The under 9’s are without a fixture.
Town under 12’s are on the road this Sunday, looking to build on last weekend’s victory as they travel to play Botley Boys at 10.30am. The hosts currently sit 4th with aspirations of the league title, whilst a win for Town will see them climb the division.
It’s second placed Town under 13’s hosting Crowmarsh Rooks on Sunday morning at Tucker Park, kick off 10.30am. Town sit in 2nd position, with a real chance of gaining promotion this season, whilst the Rooks are hoping to pick up a victory to put pressure on the sides above them in 5th.
The under 15’s are also at home on Sunday morning, kick off on the Tucker Park middle pitch is 10.30am, with Crowmarsh Youth Tigers the visitors. Town are currently in 3rd position with games in hand on the sides above, whilst the visitors are in 6th knowing a victory will take them within a point of Town.
The under 16’s & 17’s are without a competitive fixture.
