The youth section are back in action this weekend, whilst it’s only the 1st & Reserves in action for the seniors.
Town 1st Team have the difficult task of remaining in their last cup competition, with an away trip to NBFL Division 1 champions and current leaders Berinsfield FC. Kick off at Laye Avenue is 1.30pm and Town preparations are not helped by the unavailability of a number of players, which is stretching the squad to the limit. Town reached the final of the competition last season, with the winners of this tie set for a home Quarter Final with Lambourn Sports or Watlington Town. The home side have one of the league’s leading scorer in their ranks, David Murphy, who has scored 8 in 8 games so far, with strike partner Max Palmer finding the net 5 times in the same number of fixtures.
Town Reserves are back in league action after last weekend Cup victory, when Marcham FC are the visitors to Tucker Park for this 2.00pm ko NBFL Division 2 fixture. Both sides are sitting at the lower end of the table, with Town 9th with 6 points and the visitors 10th on 5 points, but having player one more match. The two side met on three occasions last season with Town winning 1-0 (league) and 4-2 (county cup) at Tucker Park, but losing 2-1 on the road, so this should be a tight fixture between two sides needing the points in their road to survival. Town will see a number of players moving the 1st Team, but welcome Dan Pugh & Nick Wojcik into the squad from the A Team, among others.
The under 8’s and 9’s are in Development action on Saturday morning, with the 8’s welcoming Summertown Kestrels, whilst the 9’s travel to Crowmarsh Youth Tigers, both kicking off at 10.30am. The under 10’s are without a fixture.
Town under 12’s are entertaining Oxford Blackbirds on Sunday morning at Tucker Park, hoping to get their season on track. Kick off is 10.30am, with the two sides sitting 7th & 8th in the Autumn C League.
The under 13’s are on their travels Sunday morning, with a trip to Abingdon to face St Edmunds at 10.30am. The home side sit in 7th position with Town 3rd, hoping to bounce back from two resent defeats.
The under 15’s are also at home on Sunday morning, kick off is at 10.30am for this C League fixture, with Summertown Comets the visitors to Tucker Park, Town sitting 4th and the visitors in the bottom two.
The under 16’s are in Berks & Bucks County Cup action, as they entertain fellow Oxfordshire Invitational B League side, Abingdon Youth to Tucker Park, for a 2.00pm kick off. Both sides are have 6 points so far, but Town having played two games less.
And Finally, the under 17’s are heading towards Oxford, to face Barton United, where a win will see Town jump above the opposition into third position. Kick off is at 2.00pm on Sunday afternoon.
