Weekend Preview – Saturday 5th March 2018 – Faringdon Town FC

The Reserves and A-Team play at Tucker Park this Saturday. Ressers host Watlington, with the As playing their final game of the season Appleford.

The 1st Team’s season ended without a ball being kicked in their final game v Brimscombe & Thrupp Res. After the postponment last Saturday and no time left in the season to play the fixture, it was decided that the points would be shared. After a great start to the season they finally finished in 8th spot on 20 points from 20 games (W5, D5, L10 ). With Clanfield 85 Dev below them on goal difference.

The Reserves played mid-week v Compton, a great performance from a mixture of regulars and A-Team players, saw them win 4-1. Goals from Derren Harrington, Dom Wills, Jack Green and a well taken first senior goal for Ronnie Platt helped them to their second win of the season.

Saturdays visitors Watlington Town are currently 5th with 2 to play, so could potentially finish in the top 3 depending on result around them. The teams met a month ago with Watlington winning 4-2. The goals that day came from Walter De Souza Brigido and Mitchell Singh. Kick-off 2.30pm

The A-Team face Appleford in their final game. The As under the leadership of Dan Pugh have been solid all season, and with a bit better luck could have finished higher than mid-table, another 3 points will see them finish in 5th spot. Plenty of points behind league winners Cumnor, but not far of a top 3 finish. Jason Evans has done his bit, with 23 goals so far, nearest rival is Jack Green way back on 5! Kick-off 2.30pm

Get yourselves along to Tucker Park on what looks likely to be a sunny afternoon and cheer on the FTFC boys! #comeonthedon
