Weekend Preview – Saturday 24th February 2024

The Don will be looking to build on last Saturday’s impressive 4-2 home victory over fellow promotion chasers Bratton FC, when they welcome old foes Lambourn Sports to Tucker Park, KO 14:15  in Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League Division One. A brace each from Jamie Broadfield and Matt Pill confirmed the three points last weekend, however the lads will be disappointed with the two goals we conceded, which could and should have been avoided.

Old North Berks Football League rivals Lambourn Sports travel the 15 miles before we embark on a March of away fixtures. Sports have seen a change of management team midway through this season, which has coincided with their results being much more positive. Sports are currently in tenth position with six victories and nine defeats from their fifteen league ties. With a total of eighteen points so far, they will be hoping to move up the mid-table and into the top half by the end of the season. They come into this match on the back of two victories from three league games over Pewsey Vale Devs and Stratton Juniors. Harry Meeky (7 from 10) and Jamie Stones (6 from 11) are the visitors leading goalscorers.

The two sides met during a sunny August midweek evening in the reverse fixture, where Town triumphed convincing 5-0 winners with goals from Kyle Bowyer (2), Jamie Tuck (2) and Liam Hares. The Don squad see’s Adam Sly, Pete Fletcher and George James looking to get game time in the Devs, whilst skipper Luke Davenport is unavailable. However, the returning Mitch Coombes, Jamie Tuck, Adam Rudman and Luke Smith see’s the squad depth unweakened.

Squad From: Harry Platt, Ray Lovell, Adam Rudman, Jamie Tuck, Matt Pill, Luke Smith, Jack Gibson, Harry Timbrell, Sam Leech, Liam Hares, Jamie Broadfield, Mitch Coombes, Will Bazen, Josh Forth, Kyle Bowyer.

The Don are sponsored by (Home Shirt) The Snooty MehmaanThe Advertiser Magazine & Pickpackplus & (Away Shirt) & and we thank them for their continued support.

The Devs are also now at Tucker Park this Saturday, due to our opponents, Siege FC’s home ground of Bampton Town being under water. The kick off in  Hartwell sponsored Witney & District League Division Two is 13:00.

Sixth position Siege are one place below Town Devs, however are fourteen points adrift but with three games in hand. Having totaled nineteen points from five victories, four draws and four defeats, Siege will be hoping to gain some points on Town. They come into the game unbeaten in 2024 with one win and three draws. Town Devs are on a three game winning streak, including a 3-1 away victory over Kingham All Blacks last Saturday, where two Rich Evans strikes and a Luke Smith goal brought home the three points.

Town Devs have an opportunity to apply further pressure on the leading sides in the promotion chase with three points on Saturday, however will need to be mindful of the threat from Siege leading goalscorer Chris Hirons who has a goal a game ratio (9 from 9).

Town Dev’s kindly sponsored by J Godfrey & Son Funeral Services & Las Chicas Faringdon, their support is amazing and we can’t thank them enough.

The A Team are without a fixture this weekemd.

Town A’s a have been lucky to have had the support and sponsorship from Wessex Recovery, another trusted partner of FTFC.
