Town Vets are on the road tonight, with a trip to early season favourites Didcot Town Vets at the GWR Loop Meadow Stadium. Kick off is at 7.45pm and the lads would appreciate a The Don following coming over and supporting them in their quest for three points. The ground is at Bowmont Water, Ladygrove, Didcot, OX11 7GA.
After the previous game, we knew we needed to up it, some fresh faces in the squad and a good atmosphere meant for a good game.
The Vets league campaign continued on Wednesday night, with Aylesbury FC Vets the visitors to The Cinder Lane Stadium, home of Fairford Town FC and venue for all of Town’s home league fixtures. The evening was calm and fairly warm for the middle of November and the visitors had made the arduous journey from as far as London. Town were three points clear of the visitors before kick-off, but having played two games more.
So after the deluge of rain in the local area had received prior to kick off, the Cinder Lane Stadium playing surface was very good and there was never any doubt our latest Hellenic Vets Premier league tie with Witney Royals wasn’t going to go ahead.
Apologies for recent weeks match reports, the game against Brimscombe was abandoned after 60 minutes due to a real bad injury to Elliott Day. The next game was a cup game away to Wantage where Town was the better side for first 30 minutes but came out the game losing 5-0. Last week Town’s game was called off due to Abingdon Town not being able to field a team.
Town made the cross-country trek to Hook Norton to face the current bottom of the table side Old Hooky Vets in the Hellenic Premier Division. The squad was stretched to it’s maximum due to a large number of injuries, work and general unavailability. However, the squad which travelled was good enough to put the effort in and come away with a positive result.
