‘On the road, back again’ is the motto for this week’s Vet’s fixture, as we travel back to Old Hooky Vet’s. This fixture was originally played in October, when Town were on the end of a 4-1 defeat against a very good home side. However, the match referee on the night, reported an under-age player, which the league deemed was correct and Old Hooky had three additional points deducted, as well as this fixture having to be replayed, much to both clubs dissatisfaction!
After a four week enforced break due to the weather and other clubs being unable to field a side, Town Vets were back in action at the Cinder Lane Stadium with Chinnor A Vets the visitors.
Last week, the Vets saw their Hellenic League Vets Cup quarter-final with Aylesbury FC Vets postponed two and a half hours prior to kick off, due to a number of the visiting players dropping out and therefore, leaving Aylesbury with insufficient players to fulfil the fixture. The league have confirmed that the tie has been awarded to Town and we now progress into the semi-finals.
Town Vets have their fingers and toe’s crossed that this Wednesday’s Hellenic Veterans Premier Division fixture with Abingdon Town Vets at Culham Road goes ahead.
So after nearly 6 weeks without a fixture, the Vets are back in action on Wednesday evening, when they entertain Didcot Town Vets at the Cinder Lane Stadium, kick off 7.45pm.
The enigma of an away victory still lingers over Faringdon Town Vets this season after last night below-par performance at Didcot Town Vets.
