Weekend Preview – 7th October 2017 – Faringdon Town FC

All three senior teams in action on Saturday, plus a full set of youth team fixtures over the weekend. First Team away to Hellenic Prem Lydney Town in the cup. Reserves and A-Team both at Tucker Park.
Faringdon Town travel to Lydney Town to play the Hellenic Premier team in the Bluefin Sports (UHL) Challenge Cup. Even with the Dons fantastic start to the season facing a team from Step 5 will be a massive test.
Town lost their unbeaten run last week at home to Newent Town. A low key performance was hindered by early forced changes due to injuries to Rich Evans and Andy Lynham. The final score was 0-1, with the visitors also missing a penalty. Rumour has it the ball is still somewhere on Folly Hill.
Lydney have been on a poor run of form themselves with 5 straight loses all on their travels. They sit 14th in the league, with 3 wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats. Peter Macklin tops scores with 5 goals from 5 appearances. KO 3pm
Faringdon Town Reserves are in Charity Shield action again this week with Sutton Courtenay the visitors to Tucker Park. The Ressers have a tough draw, in the league format Charity Sheild having already lost to Div 1 leaders Saxton Rovers and Standford in the Vale. This weeks opposition are least from Div 2, all be it currently unbeaten this season! Their game against Saxton was postponed last week. Rhys Griffiths has 6 goals from 3 starts for the visitors. KO 2.30pm – Home
Faringdon Town A-Team, play only their 2nd game of the season so far. They take on Hanney 66 Club, who’ve only had 3 games themselves. Hanneys only league match resulted in a 5-1 victory over Hagbourne Res. More recently they’ve had 2 cup defeats to Appleton and Reading YMCA Rockets. KO 2.30pm – Home
