Weekend Ahead – Saturday 30th April & Sunday 1st May 2016

It is just the 1st Team in action on Saturday for the seniors, whilst the youth section has only a handful of fixtures on Sunday.

The 1st Team squad and management can take heart from their performance last weekend, as they took league title challenger Abingdon Town to the wire in NBFL Division 1, finally losing 2-1. This week, they make the relatively long journey to Wallingford Town, hoping to finish the season with a flourish in their final three fixtures. The kick off at The Hithercroft Sports Complex is 2.30pm, with Town in 10th and the home side in 6th. Wallingford haven’t kicked a ball since the 20th February, so they can expect to be a little bit rusty, so Town will be hoping to take full advantage, however when the two side met in the reverse fixture at Tucker Park, Wallingford took the three points with a 3-1 opening day scoreline. The Town squad will again be much changed with a number of absentees, but still capable of gaining a morale boosting victory.

Moving onto the youth section….

The under 13’s will look to complete a very quick league double as they entertain last weekends opposition Crowmarsh Youth Rooks, who Town defeated 4-2 away from home last weekend. Town are just three points off the league summit and will need to win their two remaining games to stand a chance of winning the B League. Kick off on Sunday is 10.30am.

Town under 15’s are now hot favourites to lift the C League title, however they still need to win their remaining fixtures to guarantee promotion. This Sunday they¬†travel to¬†5th placed Crowmarsh Youth Tigers on Sunday morning for a 10.30am kick off and three points will put them top of the table with last weekend’s postponed fixture, likely to see Town granted the three points.

Sunday afternoon will see another Town promotion candidate, the under 16’s play at Tucker Park on Sunday afternoon, with Tower Hill the visitors for a B League 2.00pm kick off. The side had a fantastic 6-3 home victory on Wednesday night to bounce back from last weekends disappointing result and three points with one game to play on Sunday will go someway in their promotion push.

And finally, Town under 17’s are in action with a trip along the A420 to Cutteslowe Park to face Summertown Stars. Kick off is at 2.00pm on Sunday afternoon, with neither side having anything to play for, except for pride with Town sitting in 5th and Stars 6th.
