The veterans travelled to Abingdon Town FC for their final Group D Vets Cup fixture, having already qualified for the quarter-finals but looking to extend their current winning streak. OUP were this weeks opponents, from the Premier Division and who needed at least a draw to progress themselves.
After last weeks tough cup game Town faced another tough cup game against old rivals Saxton Rovers. Having played them a couple of months ago in the Thursday Cup and being beaten 6-0 we were looking to show progression.
This weekend sees all three senior teams in action again. First team away to Saxton Rovers in the B&B Senior Trophy, Reserves away to Crowmarsh Gifford with the A-Team at home to Watlington Town Res.
The Don Vets went back to league action, following two cup group games and travelled to Milton Utd to face Benson Lions in Hellenic Veterans Division One. On arrival at the ground, the heavens opened but as the sides warmed up the rain had stopped but a swirling wind was evident. The pitch was surprisingly hard considering the rain, but it made for a quick passing surface.
As a first-team Town are entered into the Bluefin Sports (UHL) Challenge Cup and came up against Hellenic Premiership side Lydney Town. A long trip, but a chance for a break from the league.
