Town made the cross-country trek to Hook Norton to face the current bottom of the table side Old Hooky Vets in the Hellenic Premier Division. The squad was stretched to it’s maximum due to a large number of injuries, work and general unavailability. However, the squad which travelled was good enough to put the effort in and come away with a positive result.
Following our three cup fixtures, the Vets are back to the league campaign hoping to maintain pressure on the leading pack. The opposition on Wednesday night are current league title holders, Old Hooky Vets and Town make the journey across Oxfordshire to The Bourne, Hook Norton for a 7.45pm kickoff. The third cup tie in as many weeks saw the lads play Marston Saints at Carterton Town FC, knowing a draw would suffice, but wanting a win to keep the momentum running from last week.
So with last week’s emphatic victory over Carterton Town keeping Town Vets in the hunt for a place in the knockout stages of the Vets Cup, Town travel to Carterton Town to take on Marston Saints Vets in this final Group A fixture. Kick off at the Community Stadium, Kilkenny Lane OX18 1DY on Wednesday is 7.45pm.
This week’s visitors to the Cinder Lane Stadium was Carterton Town Vets, new to the Hellenic League and competing in Division 1. It was clear to hear on their arrival that they would be an RAF side, due to them all sounding like our very own Kammy from “Upt North”!
