Opening game of the season for FTFC and it was a slow start for the boys against a well organised Cholsey team.
Training will now take place at the RMCS Watchfield on Tuesday evenings, using their excellent AstroTurf floodlit area. Those wishing to attend, need to ensure they have photographic I.D (passport or drivers licence).
Town went into this NBFL Division 1 fixture on the back of a hiding at Saxton Rovers the week before and were looking to bounce back immediately and climb the league table. Changes in formation were necessary and new personnel as well with players unavailable.
A sloppy start to this game saw the A’s go three goals down in the first 20 miniutes. If not for a couple of important saves from the keeper Justin “Too Tall” Yates, the deficit could have been a lot worse. After 30 minutes, skipper Nick Wojcik pulled a goal back with a strike from the edge of the box. The Ardington kepper did get a hand to the ball…
Town evenly matched Didcot Casuals for 75 minutes but finally wasted their good work to lose 4-1 Town took the lead through Derren Harrington before Casuals equalised, also in the opening half. But the three goals conceded in the final minutes sealed Town’s fate.
