Faringdon Town 0-5 Bourton Rovers –
After the solid performance produced last week Darryl Curtis was hoping the team would play the same and get the positive result they deserved.
Within the first minute Bourton had a shot that was saved and resulted in a corner. This corner wasn’t cleared properly and a free man on the edge lashed the ball into the net. Town 1-0 down in opening minutes, not the start they were looking for!
After 10 minutes Town were 2-0 down. A short pass from Towns keeper to the full back was intercepted and the Bourton forwards shot, hit the bar but no one followed up and the forward tapped in. Town tried hard to get back in the game and showed they could compete but were not on the boil. Ten minutes before half-time Bourton scored their 3rd. A long ball wasn’t dealt with and the Bourton forward latched on to it and slipped it in the net.
Half time 0-3
Town knew they had another two or three gears to find in the second half. They started a lot better, but still not at their best. They managed to compete for the ball all over the pitch and played some good football for a period, but another long ball caught the defence out and the Bourton forward managed to sneak another. Town 4-0 down. Town conceded another late on in the half, making it 5 for Bourton on the day.
Final score 0-5
A very disappointing performance from the lads, which was a bit of a shock considering the performances in the games leading up to this fixture. I am seriously hoping the heartache from this one will be the turning point for us and hoping to see a huge positive reaction going into a big fixture next week. Put this one behind us and put it right going forwards over next few games.
