The two sides met very early in the season at the Cinder Lane Stadium, where Town inflicted the only defeat that Abingdon have encountered so far. In a competitive and well fought tie, Town won 2-1 with goals coming from Paul Hulme & Paul Smith putting Town in the box seat, Paul Douglass pulled a late goal back, before Town claimed the three points.
The men in Yellow & Green have won six consecutive league and cup fixtures since that defeat scoring 28 goals, conceding only 8 in their own net. Their top goalscorers in all competitions are Ross Tabor (8 from 7 games) and Paul Douglass 7 from 9 games). They currently sit top of the Premier Division with four wins from five fixtures and twelve points, two points clear of third positioned Town who have played two fixtures more.
