Match Preview – Wednesday 27th March 2019 – Aylesbury FC Vets v Faringdon Town Vets

Following last week’s dramatic semi-final cup exit, the Town Vets are back in league action on Wednesday as they make their longest journey of the season to Aylesbury FC. With a round trip of over 85 miles to The SRD Stadium, Haywood Way, Aylesbury, Bucks, HP19 9WZ its going to be a long evening!

This is an important tie in the race for the runners-up position in the Uhlsport Hellenic Vets Premier Division, with Town currently occupying second position with sixteen points from nine fixtures and the home side in fourth, with thirteen points from seven Vets games. The two sides met back in November when they battled out a 1-1 draw. Aylesbury took the lead after Colin Yates for ‘The Don’ had missed a penalty, however Town skipper Gary Sutton grabbed an equaliser early in the second half.

The semi-final last week has taken it’s toll on a couple of lads, with keeper Lee Ruddle and skipper Sutton both missing the game due to injury, whilst Anthony McCusker and Colin Yates also miss out because of work commitments. The squad will be pushed to it’s limits, but new signing Derren Harrington is set to make his debut, with Craig Gaynor and Patrick Graham both returning to the squad.
