Match Preview – Wednesday 20th February 2019 – Faringdon Town Vets v Chinnor A Vets

Last week, the Vets saw their Hellenic League Vets Cup quarter-final with Aylesbury FC Vets postponed two and a half hours prior to kick off, due to a number of the visiting players dropping out and therefore, leaving Aylesbury with insufficient players to fulfil the fixture. The league have confirmed that the tie has been awarded to Town and we now progress into the semi-finals.

It’s back to league action this Wednesday, with our final home league game of the season at the Cinder Lane Stadium, with Chinnor A Vets the visitors for this Hellenic Veterans Premier Division fixture, kick-off 7.45pm. The two sides currently occupy fourth and fifth positions, with Town on ten points and Chinnor three point behind, having both played seven league games each. Town have only managed to find the net ten times so far and conceding only eleven in the league, whilst Chinnor have also struggled to find the net themselves, averaging a goal a game in the Premier Division, but have conceded twenty. In the September reverse fixture, Town were out battled to every ball as Chinnor muscled their way to a 2-0 home victory with Mark Avery & Mark Jones grabbing the first half strikes.

The guys to keep an eye on up front at leading scorers Jody Smith (four goals) and Mark Jones (three goals) in all competitions. Town will have their leading marksmen in their squad of sixteen, Paul Smith (five goals) and Paul Hulme (four goals) looking to put a six point gap over the visitors. Spikes Diner and Bar will be available from 7.00pm for Hot & Cold drinks, plus cooked food and showing Champions League football.
