‘On the road, back again’ is the moto for this week’s Vet’s fixture, as we travel back to Old Hooky Vet’s. This fixture was originally played in October, when Town were on the end of a 4-1 defeat against a very good home side. However, the match referee on the night, reported an under-age player, which the league deemed was correct and Old Hooky had three additional points deducted, as well as this fixture having to be replayed, much to both clubs dissatisfaction!
So, we again make the arduous journey across Oxfordshire to Hook Norton, with kick-off 7.45pm, at The Bourne OX15 5PB.
Old Hooky are the current Hellenic Premier Division champions, however they have found the defence of the title a difficult task. They currently sit second bottom on the table, with six points from seven fixtures, scoring twelve and conceding thirteen. They are in a relegation dogfight and desperate need of three points with games in hand over Chinnor who sit one place and two points higher. Their main goal threat is from target man John Umney and Daniel Clevely who have four goals apiece in all competitions.
Town come into the match on the back of a confidence boosting 1-0 victory over Chinnor two weeks ago. Sitting in third position on thirteen points, Town will be looking to put in a much improved offering to that shown at The Bourne in October. We are missing Chris Roche, Colin Yates & Liam Humphreys due to illness and unavailability, however we welcome back Glenn Townsend, Ben Spencer & Gavin Stevens to the squad after lengthy layoffs.
Squad From: Lee Ruddle, Gary Sutton, Damian Francis, Chris Pettis, Steve Pugh, Paul Hulme, Paul Smith, Gavin Stevens, Troy Redman, Patrick Graham, Phil Thompson, Ben Spencer, Anthony McCusker, Glenn Townsend, Andy Lynham, Dave Legg.
