Match Preview – FTFC Vets v Oxford City A – Wed 21/02/2018

Following the disappointment of the squad travelling to Milton Utd last Thursday, only to find the ground shut after the game had been postponed but we were not informed, its 1st versus 2nd at Clanfield (85) FC on Wednesday 21st February 2018, kick-off 7.45pm.

Town Vets currently occupy the top position and sit four points clear and a game in hand of second-placed visitors Oxford City A. City A started the season like a racehorse, winning their opening three games of the season, however they have had a mixed bag of results since, winning seven and losing four of their 11 league fixtures so far. They have won their last two matches (3-0 Benson Lions Vets & 3-1 Goring Utd Old Boys), so will come into the game with some confidence. Their leading scorer is target man Chris Kent who has notched seven goals having appeared in all of City’s league fixtures.

The two sides met at Abingdon Town in November, with Town winning 2-1 with goals from experienced duo Pat Graham and Troy Redman, so this fixture is likely to be as close. Town are on a run of 9 league games unbeaten and after their impressive cup victory over Premier Division Thame United last time out still in the memory, Town will be hoping their form continues for the remaining 4 league fixtures.

Squad From: Lee Ruddle, Gary Sutton, Ben Spencer, Damian Francis, Nick Wojcik, Glenn Townsend, Dave Legg, Phil Thompson, Paul Smith, Pat Graham, Colin Yates, Anthony McCusker, Troy Redman, Steve Pugh, Andy Lynham, Paul Hulme.
