Town Vets are on the road tonight, with a trip to early season favourites Didcot Town Vets at the GWR Loop Meadow Stadium. Kick off is at 7.45pm and the lads would appreciate a The Don following coming over and supporting them in their quest for three points. The ground is at Bowmont Water, Ladygrove, Didcot, OX11 7GA.
Town currently sit on top of the pile in the Hellenic Veterans Premier Division, however we have played two fixtures more than the chasing pack. Diddy are currently in fifth position, having played four league ties, with an indifferent start having seen them winning two and losing two matches. They are currently on a two game losing streak having lost by the odd goal to both Aylesbury FC Vets and Abingdon Town Vets, 3-2 & 4-3 respectively. Prior to this, they had won five league and cup games, so will be looking to get back to winning ways this evening against The Don. Matthew Leach & Dickie Knight are the goal threat with six and five goals from their seven league and cup ties.
Town’s season has been one of coming to terms with the higher standard of football and have yet managed to string two wins on the trot. However, last weeks draw with Aylesbury FC Vets following on from the win over Witney Royals Vets the week before means Town are two unbeaten. Town have managed 19 goals in their 9 league and cup ties, conceding 15, whilst Didcot have found the back of the net 27 times and conceded 10 in 7 games. It promises to be a bit of a goal fest, with Town’s leading marksman Paul Smith hoping to add to his six goal tally.
