Friendly – Faringdon Town v Horspath FC

Town welcomed Horspath FC from the Oxfordshire Senior League to Tucker Park on Saturday for the next instalment of their pre-season campaign.

Town started the brighter and took the lead when Matty Pill broke free of the visitor’s defence to slot home. Pill nearly scored a second when his lob hit the crossbar before being cleared. The visitors grew into the match and Town keeper Justin Yates had to be alert on a couple of occasions to pull off some neat saves.

Town had the chance to double their lead with the half closing, when Ryan Bradbury was brought down for a penalty, however Jason Evans strike cleared the bar and hedge behind!

Second half and Town were immediately on the back foot and conceded two well taken goals from the ever dangerous Horspath strike-force. Town were struggling to get a foot-hold in the match and second half keeper Connor Guinness-Smith, kept Town in the match. With the game coming to a close, Rich Evans scored a great individual strike, taking on four visiting defenders before finishing well to get a deserved share of the spoils.

Final Score: – Faringdon Town 2 – 2 Horspath FC

Massive thanks to Horspath FC for coming over at very late notice after two withdrawals from other clubs. The game was played in a competitive spirit and well marshalled by match referee Chris Pettis.
