Just three games remain this season, two on Saturday and one on Sunday, to put an end to the 2015-2016 season for the senior & youth sides.
Town 1st Team welcome Crowmarsh Gifford to Tucker Park on Saturday, hoping to build on their 4-2 home victory last weekend. As has been the case all season, player availability is again an issue, which will hinder the managers selection options. Kick off at Tucker Park is 2.30pm and the club has received assurances from the visitors, that they will complete the fixture, after having two of their previous three fixtures being postponed, due to insufficient players. Gifford who were Division 1 Champions in season 2011/12, have had a difficult season, however they know a positive result over Town, will see them improve on last seasons points tally. They have proven to be a tough nut to crack, with three wins and six draws from 19 fixtures so far, however with only 19 goals scored all league campaign, the reason for their 8th position is clear. Town’s season has been worse, with just three league wins all season and a 10th placed finish guaranteed, the side will hope to collect three points and finish only three points behind East Hendred & Gifford.
The Reserves are also at home on Saturday afternoon, with Champions elect, Burghclere FC the visitors for a NBFL Division 2 fixture. Kick off at Tucker Park is also 2.30pm and it is anticipated the league championship trophy will be presented to easily the best footballing side in the Division. Town are missing a host of players, however we will put the fixture on, to guarantee Burghclere have a game to collect their winners trophy, following the last three fixtures for them being postponed due to insufficient players. Again the Town management team are hindered by a lack of player commitment, which shows the reason for the third from bottom Town finish, however this is an improvement on the Town league position and points tally than last season, with less fixtures and see’s the management team of Harries & Lovegrove leave their positions, with a certain amount of achievement.
The under 17’s are in a final day shootout, winner takes all fixture at Tucker Park on Sunday afternoon, when Barton United are the visitors for this 2.00pm kick off. The sides sit level on points in 3rd & 4th positions on 23 points, however Town have a superior goal difference of four goals. When the two sides met in the regular season, the November fixture saw a goal fest at Barton, Town losing 6-4. Town have matched the sides in the promotion places, so can be confident of grabbing the necessary result.
