Faringdon Town Football Club – Weekend Preview

Faringdon Town Football Club – Weekend Preview – 4th Novemebr 2017

A full weekend of action for the Don this weekend. The First team travel to Carterton, Reserves home to Blewbury and the A-team on the road at Berinsfield Res. Plus a near full set of fixtures for the FTFC Youth Section.

Faringdon Town make the trip the Carterton for a 3pm KO. Carterton currently sit 4th in the league on 17 points from 8 games (W5, D2, L1), two places and three points ahead of the Don, they have played one extra game though. The home team lost 4-0 in the cup last week to fellow Div 2 West team Bishops Cleve Dev. There last league game was a 5-1 victory over Cheltenham Saracens Res. Daniel Broadbank top the goals list with 5 from 9 games, Joshua Gregory backs him up with 4 from 6.

Towns great start to season has lost a bit of momentum due to a run of cup games getting in the way. The Don have still only suffered a single defeat in the league this season, but last weeks 1-1 with Brimscombe & Thrupp Res, means they’re now 6 points of the pace, but do have a game in hand. Performances have been positive, with the team creating chances, but not finding the back of the net enough. The defence has been working hard and not giving the opposition many chances in recent league games. A good performance and 3 points will see the Don back on track in the league.

Andy Tranters Reserve team host Blewbury at Tucker Park for a 2pm KO. Blewbury sit midway in Div 2 on 7 points from 6 games (w2, d2, l3). Arran Gray has 5 in 5 for the visitors. The Ressers have only played 3 in the league and sit just above the bottom on goal difference, but are still searching for their 1st points.

Faringdon Town A-Team travel to play 3rd placed Berinsfield Res (2pm KO). Dan Pughs team have started the season brightly and have not been beaten in the league so far this season. However admin errors has seen points lost. So they’re current 7th place is a bit missleading. Berinsfield have 3 victories from 5 games with 1 draw and 1 loss, for their 10 points. Mennan Calvo is the one to watch in fron tof goal, with 9 goals from 6 starts. The As battle hard and their great team spirit will be sure to set them up for this tough game.
