Congratulations!! – Weekend Update – Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th May 2016

Its congratulations to our under 13’s, 15’s and 16’s, who have all gained promotion/league title’s this weekend, to give the whole club a massive boost. The first Team also collected three points with a fight back.

The under 13’s were up first, as they welcomed St Edmunds in the B League to Tucker Park. In a fixture full of excitement, they managed to grab a 5-4 victory which see’s them tied with Abingdon Youth on 40 points at the top of the league table. As yet, no information has been confirmed if a play off will be necessary or the side has to settle for runners up. However, it’s still a great achievement and another consecutive promotion.

The under 15’s knew they needed just a single point at home to mid-table Crowmarsh Youth Tigers on Sunday afternoon, after receiving three points for the recent cancelled Summertown Stars fixtures. Carl Allum’s lads went one better and won the league in style with an 8-1 home victory to win the league by three points and promotion to the B League for next season.

Also on Sunday afternoon, the under 16’s were also hoping to gain promotion, knowing they had to at least match the result of Highfield Colts, who they were locked on 29 points with, prior to kick off. Town did it the hard way, playing with 10 men for over an hour, the secured a 4-2 victory and claimed the runners up spot and promotion to the A League for next season.

And finally…..

The First Team were in NBFL Division 1 action, on Saturday afternoon and found themselves 2-0 behind to bottom side Dorchester FC, midway through the opening half, plus keeper Pete Doolan had made a penalty save before the goals were scored. After some harsh words from the Town management, the side played their way back into the game and scored four without reply through a Rich Evans double, Robbie Harrington free kick and George Hegg scoring his first goal for the club.
