On a warm Wednesday evening at Fairford Town’s Cinder Lane Stadium, Town Vets welcomed Benson Lions for our final Hellenic Veterans Division One fixture of the season. Town knew they needed at least a draw to tie up the league title, whilst the visitors were hoping to claim points to lift themselves up the table.
It was first versus second last night at Fairford Town’s Cinder Lane Ground, as Town Vets welcomed Watlington Town Old Boys in the Hellenic Veterans Division One League. When the two sides met in the away fixture, Town romped home to a 5-0 victory but going into this fixture they had an almost identical record, however, Old Boys had two games in hand, six points adrift.
Town travelled to Oxford City’s Court Farm Place Ground on Wednesday evening looking to spring a surprise in the Hellenic Veterans Cup Semi Final, competing against Premier Division leaders Oxford City Vets.
Town were back in action last night after a three-week absence, as they travelled to Milton United’s ground to face Goring United Vets in the Hellenic League Veterans Division 1. The pitch was in very good condition considering the recent poor weather, however, the wind had picked up during the day and with the ground being a very open space, it ruined the match as a spectacle, particularly in the second half.
All 3 senior teams are in action on Saturday afternoon. The 1st team travel to top placed Newent Town, with the Ressers and As both at Tucker Park.
Town Vets were back in action at Clanfield (85) FC’s Radcot Road ground on Wednesday, hoping to keep their unbeaten run going and in turn their chances of a league and cup double dream alive! The squad assembled and were in good spirits, creating a great atmosphere in the changing room, which has been the catalyst for the squads form this season.
