About G & L Evans Funeral Services – www.evansfunerals.com
The Profession of Funeral Directing is considered to be one of the oldest since time immemorial and latterly has suffered criticism for the value placed upon the service given. One of the objectives here at G & L Evans is to return to the concept of the individual Family Funeral Director. Our Company is designed to offer the public a realistically priced traditional funeral which We have been able to achieve through the vast experience that we have gained both locally and nationally over many years.
Our Company was founded in August 2002 in Faringdon by Geoffrey Evans Dip. F.D. L.M.B.I.F.D. and Lesley Jane Mander.
Lesley & Geoff became life partners in April 2002 and were Married on October 4th 2003. It was a natural progression to own and run their own Family business.
Geoffrey entered the Profession in 1983 and became a Diploma qualified Funeral Director in 1985, once qualified he applied for and became a Member of the British Institute of Funeral Directors (BIFD) in 1986 and in the late 80′s He was Vice Chairman of the Kent region of the BIFD and is still a Proud Member of the Institute today.
Geoffrey has previously been the Yorkshire representative on the National Council of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD).
Before starting his own business Geoff was Manager of another local Family owned & run Funeral Directors in Faringdon, A.E. Baker & Sons, however this business was soon to be sold to the Multinational Co-op. Geoff believes strongly in the Quality of Service that only a Family owned and run business can offer and so he resigned from the company prior to the Co-op taking over in June 2001.
Lesley entered the Profession in 1996, where she worked for a small Funeral company in Cirencester, her duties there included all administration work and the running of the Monumental Masonry department.
In the second year of trading we opened premises in the neighbouring town of Highworth and in 2004 we were awarded the Natural Death Centre award for Best Funeral Director in the East Midlands area. This is us after receiving the award outside our Highworth office.
We are proud members of the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF).
The business has until recently been staffed by ourselves using fully experienced casual staff when required for the carrying of Coffins and driving the Hearse and Limousines. In December 2005 Frank Dixon Dip. F.D. joined our team to ease the workload and his 20 years of experience in the Profession will allow us to continue to offer the Highest Standards of service.
We have our own Hearse and Limousines.
We are extremely proud and pleased to say that the majority of our clients tell us that our services and professionalism exceeded their expectations.
